First Coast Chapter- 8/11/2012
at the Big Event - Back to School with BEAM 2012.
"BEAM" (Beaches Emergency Assistance Ministry, Inc). Enrolled Agents,
Hub Gregory, Jeff Mitchell, Emily Hancock and Doris Peterson had a great time
and handed out a few hundred Teddy Bears & stuffed animals, some from the FSEA bEAr
Project, to children from ages 4 to15. This event has taken place for the past 19 years
at the Beach United Methodist Church at Jacksonville Beach, FL. This was a community
drive, hosted by the church to provide children all school supplies to start school, backpacks, clothing, haircuts,
shoes and vouchers for shoes, dental supplies and books.
There were over 300 Volunteers and 1200 people walked through.

3/7/2013 Noel A. Hoover, EA does a weekly radio spot call " Taxation Station" every Thursday between 5:30 pm and 6:00 pm, on WAXE 107.9 FM and 1370 AM. It can also be heard online on IHeartRadio's website. It's part of the "Lisa and Leo Live" show, which airs from 5-7 PM daily.
As our chapter's PR chairman here is a piece of EA promotion that I came across within the past couple of days. I have a non-profit that we handle and I found out that they changed their by-laws to include Enrolled Agent licensed by the IRS. It's Article III Finances of their by-laws, which originally read:
"... and audited by a Certified Public Accountant..."
It now reads,
"... and reviewed by a Certified Public Accountant, or an Enrolled Agent licensed by the IRS,...
I didn't even realize that I had that big an impact on the Treasurer that she had the By-Laws changed to reflect this.
Chalk up another one for our profession!!!!!!!!

The power of membership! In a stunning example of what individual EAs can do to promote the designation, the requests to Merriam-Webster that enrolled agent be included in the dictionary have resulted in this response: I am happy to tell you that we agree with you and that enrolled agent is on a list of entries to be included as part of our work on a new Merriam-Webster Unabridged Dictionary.
Thanks to all the FSEA and NAEA members who answered the call in E@lert and wrote to Webster requesting the inclusion, and special thanks to NAEA President Frank Degen, EA for focusing attention on this issue.
This is just another step forward in our quest to make enrolled agent a household term. It's an exciting time! Working together, we are going to make 2012 the Year of the EA!

Congratulations to Richard Tinkelenberg. He was awarded a Scholarship to Liaison by the Suncoast Chapter. Over the past several months,all of the FSEA chapters were engaged in the Chapter Challenge. They were charged with collecting toiletries (mini products) to donate to the less fortunate in their community. Suncoast collected well over 1100 pices. Way to Go Suncoast!!!

April 27 and May 11, 2013 Shred Fest 2013, the Suncoast Chapter is aiming to shred 10,000 pounds of paper in Tampa alone and they are now promoting “Going Green”, and helping the environment by recycling. Members, share the information with your clients, family and friends.
